vw type 25 engine conversion ecu heeeeeeeeelp

hi i ve got a 1988 t25 that ive droped a 1988 golf 1.8 8v gti engine in. ive got the engine in and bolted but now im stuck on the ecu. how do i wire the ECU up. in the left of the engine bay i have the fuse box with 2 wires comeing out with white joiners on. one gos to lights etc etc and the other gos to some sensors on the engine and in the right (hand) is the golfs ecu with a load of wires comeing out of it one or two have plugs on (injectors and something elsa) but where all the others go. i have not got a clue. and the nets not proveing two be much help nither. help please
