Just bought my new 69 beetle yesterday. Drove it home 250 miles. When we left the brake lights worked. Driving home in the rain, they didn't rain at all.
Any ideas? Hubby thinks it is the brake light switch. Any ideas?

Yes, stop light switch, try cleaning the terminals on the master cylinder. There are 2 switches, 1 for the brake lights and the other lights the brake warning light on the dash, and they are wired together.

Be advised when you remove those terminals they are "hot" with the battery hooked up and can spark when touching metal, so either disconnect the battery (safest when working under the gas tank) or insulate the terminals with a clean rag.
