Pure He// Dragster's new driver

Post by SANDDUDE »

I'm starting off by using one of these EMPI raised roof/bubble top cases that have been pre-clearanced for 84mm strokes.
Not to mention shuffle pinned & extra thick behind # 3.

The first thing I noticed is that I don't like the factory pick-up tube & I wouldn't be able to put my sump on that style. Also I wanted to run bolts instead of studs to hold my sump on.

the case wasn't tapped all the way through.

I checked the new pick up tube for center w/ an old oil screen.

I picked up my distributor drive gear from Sandsation today. I had it lightened on their lathe.
It "could" help with valve train rotational weight, nothing proven.........but it can't hurt?
It is an early style gear, it weighs less to begin w/ than the late style.

before....

after....

compared to late style....

I sell the EMPI line and I won't use one.
CB has the best aluminum case out there FWIW.

It has two shuffle pins in the middle, rubber "O" rings go on the rest.

The rods are 5.5 "H" beams

BTW......when this EMPI case "explodes" I'll have some pictures up, so you guys can tell me "I told you so"!

I think you Oklahoma VW racers should come down south for the Texas Volks Blast on May 6th, and duke it out! (on the track, that is) :D

Check out http://www.texasvolksblast.com for all the details, and/or swing by the TVWDRA Drag Talk forum to talk with up with other area VW racers.
