In modern cars.. they fish wires through the doors.
Is this possible in a classic dub?
How would you do it?
I'm guessing it's grommets and some type of strain relief.

Yeah you could just use some grommets and some "flex" tubing so the wires don't get pinched. Or you could get fancy and get electric point connections.

there are a coupple of ways
you can use these and run wires:

or you can use these and they are contacts that are made when you shut the door

There are also a bellows like gromets that you might find at a recycle yard, auto dealers, or a parts house.
The only thing that bothers me with the contact sets is that little fingers that like to push and touch things. If they are hot all the time...

My opinion is worth slightly less than what you paid for it.

Forgive my ignorance as I really dont know speaker systems. however would the voltage and amperage get up high enough to even tickle for a door speaker?Ol'fogasaurus wrote:There are also a bellows like gromets that you might find at a recycle yard, auto dealers, or a parts house.

I dunno how strong the voltage actually is but in regards to the points being "hot" all the time I dont think thats true. Why would there be power running through them if the car was off? Why would the car be on and the doors open long enough for some small hands to get interested? I wouldnt be too worried about it.

Haven't you seen people leave the key on and the radio on and walk away from the car. A little persone could walk up and open the door. If they noticed the contact pad, a little kid would be curious and touch the sjhiney little buttons.
Also remember that it is not just speakers that are in the door but power windows and power locks (solanoids). It probably wouln't happen... but could. My point was that the shiney buttons could attract a kid[/i]

A couple other sources for door looms:
Keep It Clean makes both rubber and stainless ones:

Here are the same stainless ones but for much cheaper:
http://store.gaugemagazine.com/browsepr ... -Loom.HTML
I just bought the pair from the Gauge Store (the price is for a pair), they actually came w/ the Keep It Clean markings! They have a nice teflon/nylon sleeve for smooth movement. The website says you can run nine 18AWG wires thru them.
I haven't installed mine yet, but it's on my list.
