I'm going to be upgrading to the Topline front disc brake kit, would drilled rotors be a bad idea on the street (daily driver)? Will they just furiously eat my brake pads?

I've never thought to ask that question, but it's a good one. I'm looking at drilled disks for the Ghia myself. The disks on my bikes are all cross drilled and don't seem to cause excess pad wear. I'm interested to hear from others also.

I had my CB Performance rotors cross drilled . Still the first set of pads 5 years later.

Lots of our performance cars here in Australia use cross drilled rotors and have no probs at all.If anything a better performing package.Buy some blank disc and design your own drilled disc! could end up cheaper for your pocket.JVLRacing

I'm guessing by your signature that thats 5 years of heavy braking? (road racing?) Would you recommend it? I mean, drilling keeps the brakes a little cooler, and helps get rid of some gases and dust to maintain full braking power but is it worth it?

I only Autocross , so in my case it is overkill , more for looks . Road racing cross drilling will help with heat , autocross the brakes don't get hot enough for it to make a difference

Deminsues brake fade also,everything is cooler.Like Teeroy said its a overkill for normal street use.JVLRacing

Just curious, but do you have discs in the rear too? Stock drums? Type III drums?

If you were asking me , I have four wheel discs . CB Performance , Porsche patern (drop spindles , race strength rear) , studded , custom cross drilled .

if you cross drill yourself, make sure you have a very healthy chamfer on the both sides. i used a larger bit and sunk in enough that i was sure there would still be a chamfer even when the rotor was at it's wear limit.
