Hi Guys. Just got my car back from a paintshop, it had been in a light front end collision. Only the spare wheel well and front valance needed replacing along with the bonnet. No damage to any steering or suspension done.
The shop removed the entire front beam and all fittings to sort the job properly. It used to run tight, and the steering was sharp. Now I got it back there is play in the steering wheel when stationary and on the move the steering feels kinda vague and on the freeway it's scary to drive. I have noticed the steering has become a little lumpy too. I have made some adjustment to the steering box using the center screw and this has made a little difference but it's nowhere near like it used to be.
So, if nothing was damaged, I have all the same parts back on I am guessing it has to be down to the setting up of my front end.
The car is a 65 Bug with a 4' narrowed beam and dropped spindles.
All or any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks guys

Larry, I don't know how to help, but I feel for you. Is there a chance that your parts ended up somewhere else & visa-versa? It sounds like the box, but are you sure you got the same one back?
With an R&R, if the shop isn't VW savy, I could see them loosing the caster shims or something, but geez. You've checked it out & everything looks right?
