fully automatic type 3

Post by Frostie »

Hi I already tried the search query but nothing comes up but a blank screen, so I'm asking you all. Can someone direct me to any and all post on automatic (not autostick) transaxles?

It would also be great if someone could tell me how hard is it to find parts and people to service full automatic type 3 transaxles?

finally if there is anyone out here who has one or has experience working on them can you tell me more about them i.e. problems design wise/ things to look out for when looking for one.

thank you so much, I'm thinking about buying one and I'd like to know what I'm getting into.

Try your searches again, use "automatic" ,"auto" or "003" there is plenty out there. They are not an exotic transmission (it's designed by Borg Warner) so any good transmission shop should be able to rebuild one. Kits are still availiable, I have found several sources on the internet.

The is an autostick/automatic forum here http://www.volks.org/vwar/forum/login.php?redirect= it deals mainly with the autostick but there is some auto information. The best manual is the Bentley. There are some good threads on here but I don't have them bookmarked on this computer
