The old lifters typically were much better than the newer stuff.

They are HEAVY, like 141 grams !!!! 5o grams more that a stock lifter. They need strong valve springs to prevent them from bouncing on the cam. I have seen them in a type 4 engine that was used for dragracing and the cam went flat/broke within a few runs. The lifters and cam looked REALLY bad. But for a street engine with moderate cam choise and good strong valve springs the lifters can be used.

Just my 2 cents

you may have to deck the lifterbores 3-4mm because at full lift the extraspace the big foot takes up will go cambind!!!!

mind you that the hydraulic standard lifters in the WBX are filled with oil, so that adds additional weight to the original lifters :D

True, a few grams. The volume of oil inside the lifter couldn't be more than 3cc, and oil is lighter than water.

I hsve used some of Udo Becker lifter sleeves for type 1 lifters in a friend's oxyboxer and they works fine. I have made a drift to install them with and when the sleeves was cooled in the freezer and the case was heated a little bit they went in like a hot knife in butter :P
