torsion bars and spring plates?

Post by NCbug »

Ok so i bought a set of 28 mm torsion bars from CIP1 . On the site it said 68-72 was 24-11/16 size ,mine being a 72 i took their word and bought them . Needless to say i take my old torsion out and find out this one is too small. So what can i do about this so i wont have to return them? Can i use spring plates from a different year bug or something? Or is the difference on the inside of the torsion tube.

Good question. The Sway-a-Way website shows lengths/years too & I went by that one & bought the long ones.
CIP1 are good folk, they'll work with you.

I'd have to guess that the cost of returning them is less than the cost of buying the oddball plates to replace your's. Just call them and they should work with you on this one. Just be clear, calm, and articulate. Make sure that on the website where they show the ones you bought they don't say something about making sur you measure yours and know what you are ordering or something like that.
Goodluck.
I bought mine from them as well, without a brand name listed. they turned out to be SAW power barz. Working great so far!
