I recently had my car repainted, so I am replacing all rubber all the way around.
I had an original Mexican hood seal on my front hood (it mounts to the hood and not the car).
I installed a new seal now that I am putting the car back together, however I cannot get the hood pin to properly align, and am in need of some good advice.
I did not mess with the alignment of the hood itself, and it was not removed when the car was painted.
I ether can not get the pin to catch, or if I screw it in more (less than 1/4") it will catch but then it will not release. Would a bad spring cause this?
I am having to use a mirror and a long screwdriver to open hood from access hole cover (luckily spare was not in place)
Thanks for the help.

Hood Hold Down Pin
Hot, humid air is less dense than cooler, drier air. This can allow a golf ball to fly through the air with greater ease, as there won't be as much resistance on the ball.

-=Update=-
After lots and lots of thinking and an advice from a friend with a trained eye, the base in the apron was a little loose (even though new rivets were installed).
I have since drilled out the rivets and replaced with bolts to adjust the little play that is there.
I have also refurbished the old seal and reinstalled it - much better than before.
I am going to try to find a newer catch to replace mine in the apron as well.
Thanks.
