I got my Thing fired up Friday after work. I don't think I put 200 miles on her last year. I have needed to change the steering dampner. So I took her to work on Saturday and gave her a bath. Got to ride home with the top down. Man, have I missed that.
So I get about four blocks from home and she begins to sputter and dies. I opened the engine hood and found that the pivot shaft had walked almost out of the fuel pump. So a walk home for tools, pulls the pump, reassemble and reinstall. And the then fires right up. So, now I need to get some gaskets and use one of my spare fuel pumps.

Re: My Thing is out of hibernation!
Well, its almost 2 years later; Have you done anything to your Thing? I hope you've put more than 400 miles on it. My '74 only has 70,000 original miles, but I've started driving it nearly every day just because I like it and cars are meant to be driven !
