Ball joint installation issue

Hopefully this will be an easy one. I am installing new drop spindles and trying to tighten the lower ball joint, but the shaft is spinning when I try to turn the nut. Any suggestions would be great.

Push the control arm up...with the front beam supported on a floor jack, put a jackstand or something under the arm and then lower the jack enough that the tapered stud on the lower ball joint is forced into the hole in the spindle...that's usually enough to make it stop spinning.
