whats the best way to deal with rust thru on the c pillar its right at the back glass and the body side. I hae a 70 beetle which I could cut te rear half of the roof section from but that would give me a 70 size window on a 73 super.

Thanks Leather - I've been away for a few days.
You received the correct advice..
The metal should be cut out and donor pieces welded in.
Chances are behind, you'll find some foam rubber thatt should be removed. Note .. when welding this area, you should have water or something.. the foam below may start on fire.
Chances are your car is a 70s car - correct?
Do you have a lead for a donor clip?

Yes its a73 super and the donor is a 70 standard I know the windows are not the same size. But the rust goes thru to the inside beside the little vents at the back glass and under the seal for the rear window and possibly the window seating surface.

Remove the insulation (foam).. cut out ALL of the rust...
Clean and prep.. then transplant your steel.
Unfortunately there's no step by step replacemnet as this is common but not normal rust area.
Before doing this.. let's discuss the rest of the car.. what are the channels, pillars and parcel tray like?

The rest of the car appears to be soild and rust free except the area behind the vents and battery tray area it has some dents at the front and rear apron areas and left door po says the door was damaged while bush hogging around car. the package tray has some light surface rust only. The patch in the photo posted by Glenn is what I need only a bit higher up was that from a donor or was it fabed?

You may want to cut out an inspection hole in the inner c panel and evaluate the extent of the rust. This will also let you sand blast and paint the welds to keep them from rusting. I like the idea of the smaller window. If you want to save the 70 roof for another project small patch panels are easy to fabricate. Old hoods have a very similar curve.
This was the passenger inner a panel that was filled to the top with expanding foam

The patch was formed with thes simple hand tools, a piece of angle iron and a piece of wooden laminated beam.
