You can use Raceware or similar 8mm chromemoly headstuds with T1 case savers. 8mm case savers have same thread size as WBX studs in the case.

Do you get case savers / thread insert from M12 to M10?
maybe not enough material to do this.

since the crankcase side has M12 threads, i was thinking of getting 12mm studs, then machine them down to 10mm diameter in a lathe and make M10 threads on the top.
cause if i first do thei job i want to not just go from 7mm to 8mm but be on the safe side.

So any tips where to get misc studs in fine thread M12 various lenght's appreciated.
12.8 12.9 grade steel will do i asume

I was going to look at this with a UK co that makes whatever you want... should be able to do something corrosion resistant too... the problem I can see is the studs could be too strong.. maybe?? I think they need to "give a little"
Do they need to be stronger? use new ones in a hi po engine... I seem to recall Marco only used stock ones in his monsters.....

to be honest , i do not know if they are strong enough.
Corrosion is not been a problem in my engines.

I'm strarting to spend a lot more $$$ on my next engine , and thought that "More than strong enough" headstuds could be the way to go.

So you mean the should "stretch" dut to temp differnences??

never heard of a standard one snapping or allowing leaks, only when rusted.... usually its the heads that crack or seats/valves burn....
Yep.. ther has to be some "stretch" in them to compensate for expansions...something has to give...

the reason is , i'm building a 2,5L turbo WBX . aiming for ~500 hp
so the Cylinder pressure is above stock i asume. :)
comparing it to the stock 112hp , i thought it would make sense to do this.

i'l keep looking

IIRC Marco got a solid 400+ from a 1.9......

what pistons you using?? going to have trouble getting any with a reasonable dish in them...

the HP is in reach for shure.
i'm currently stuck at 343Hp today on a 2,2 :) with stock heads.

I have not any pistons yet, but JEpistons will get that job.
compresion will not be a problem. i'm not going for 7:1 maybe around 9:1
runnig e:85
not decided if i go for 99 or 98mm bore.
must do some measuring on my cylinders first.
and with the DPR 82 crank it will be 2,5 L

How the heck are you going to make it all fit? Will you get some custom sleeves made or bore out the ones you've got now?

I have a set of NOS Oettinger 2.5L 98mm. pistons.. that wont go in a stock cyl.... (I cant see how there is enough material for the GW 97.5's.....) and the case has to be machined too.. its actually quite a bit of work and I can see why Oetti were so costly.. I too am after an 82mm from DPR...
The Oetti pistons are very thin on top.. no way to machine much less CR.. (9.7) and I doubt would withstand a turbo... They are nice though...

We should talk.. could be poss to make a piston for yours and mine.. (was planning on building a few 2.5's) just machine a bit more out for yours

yes custom sleeves.they are from a Volvo diesel engine if i remeber correctly. very long and has to be machined for length and diameter.
Theres no free lunch , so machining of the case and heads must be done of course, but that should not be a problem.
Regarding stock MV pistons , and the 96mm Wisecos form Gowesty , they have handled 1,25-1,3 bar so far.

Here's the MV piston

Of course I am not going to cut up a new oetti, but I am pretty sure it isnt that thick...

Volvo liner?? tell me more... has to be cheaper than the 25 engine sets I have to buy to get them made as per the Oetti liners...........  I even have access to a machine shop (well I will do shortly!!!)
