Konis installed :)

For road racing, autocrossing, or just taking that curve in style. Oh yea, and stopping!

Konis installed :)

Post by Ghia Nut »

Just finally put in the Koni yellows up front for my 72.
I finally have front suspension again and the konis are like magic
I ran over bumps that the front wheels used to get airborn on and they handled like champs.

they were an absolute B!+*h to put on, had to bubba press out the smaller fatter bushings and replace them with the ones of my old Boge shocks, that and putting the 23mm sway bar up front on its softest setting was around 4hrs of work... dont ask ;)

Ive been wanting to do this for a while and have Kept Ozzies thoughts in the back of my mind for more than 2 years. He told me how to get my torsion leaves back in when my car was about to drag of my car.
Ozzie, if you read this, thanks a million. Your suggestions were the most helpful.

I also installed Bilstein shocks in the back and they are nice as well.

Looks like my suspension is done. I never did install the 29mm torsion bars in the car and Im thinking of selling them. But then I kind of want to test them out... but then again I live the stiffness that I have achieved and feel confident in its abilities... but not so much in the engine starving itself in hard corners.

In the mean time Im sinking some money into this project.
A new momo is sitting in my room with an adapter hub and slim 1.25" quick release hub on its way.

A wrx turbo should be in the mail soon along with gauges and other goodies for a turbo set up.

Konis

Post by FJCamper »

Hi GhiaNut;

Yep, Konis are worth the money, as you now well know. I started our 1970 Ghia on them in 2002.

Did you see the new Johnny Lightning Ghia they made from a photo of our car?

They even got the dark silver paint right and the aluminum headlight covers. Their 08 number means a 2008 release.
