I'm back

I'm trying a new photo program and am not sure this will work.

I spent the past several months working on a baja bug. As of now it's finally running. Yesterday it started up when it was ten below zero. I drove it to work, wishing it had heat. The point is I'm done with it and can get back to doing bodywork on my 1967 project car.

Last winter I did all the major metal work: new front clip, new luggage tray, etc. Now I'm getting ready to use bondo where needed and start sanding and priming. The photos hopefully show the problems. The front hood doesn't lay well. The front clip is recessed a bit relative to the front fenders. I'm wondering how much these problems would show up under a new paint job. Any suggestions how to get the hood to lay better?

Are you keeping it a stocker 67 (all the nutty 1 year only parts) or are you customizing?

I'm keeping most of the parts that gave the old bugs their identity: the big, chrome bumpers and such, original turnsignals and lights. It still has the original AM radio. I'll keep it but have an FM/mp3 unit mounted discretely. I thought about an 8-track player to keep it 'period'. Or a CB. Both of which I had in my bug in 1976.

But the motor will be 1700cc or more. Eventually I'd like a 5-speed transmission. Also much better wheels and tires.

Cool.

Not sure if you know .. baby your brake fluid reservoir.. these are golden as folks are looking to pay for them.

Thanks. Mine is on a shelf in a box labelled, "1967 bug miscellany".

Anyone know the minimum temp for bondo? I looked at four different brands at the Napa store and none mentioned temperature. And none were 'bondo' brand.

You really do not want to use bondo brand anything on a car..

I'd go to a paint/body shop only (no car parts) and have them sell you a talc-less filler.
