Does anyone have any thing good or bad to say about either of these exhausts.Its for a type 4 2163 in a thing with 31-32" tires in rear 7 x 15 in front .Both are far away so help from seller may be difficult I'm in NY, CSPis in Like Germany or somewhere, and Tiger from A-1 in CA. Any Ideas on pro's and cons.

I purchased a A1 header for my Type-4 sand buggy. I found Tiger very easy to work with even with him having to rework the header to fit within the sand buggy frame 3 times. He never changed his price from the quoted amount. Nothing but good things to say about the guy.

i bought mine through a third party. Very happy with my sidewinder, but would recommend going straight to Tiger to get the best rate. i called him to buy more parts to fab up my dual outlet setup and picked up a few extra flanges (@$7/per).. easy to talk to and knew his stuff inside and out.

I've bought 2 sine winders from Tiger. Again, very easy to work with and a VERY high quality piece. I'm about to build a motor with one in the next couple weeks the fit and finish is top notch. You WON'T be disappointed with an A-1.

For a relatively slow >6000 rpm engine, I would choose the one easiest to get your hands on. For a high power engine I would take the Python, as it has shorter primaries, AND can be run with heaterboxes in the same size (Type 1 that is) Both have good fit.

I went with the CSP,must say I was blown away by the quality.Very nice welding and thick flanges,the head stubs are a work of art in themselves.Only issue I had on the install was clearance between one of the pipes and the rear most tin where it goes around the pulley.I'm using a Sharpbuilt conversion kit in a 56 oval.And remember if you are buying from outside the EU all the prices on their website include 19% VAT so you can deduct that.

The Python is made out of stainless steel.
Much more difficult to fabricate, but ultimately much better, both in function and -obviously- in longlivety.

Easy choice if price is no concern.

Then Ahnendorp makes the 'original' python as of about 25 years now?
Also stainless, little less $$ but without stub-pipes. Worked always very well for me in the past.

The muffler came with the exhaust and is branded CSP,who made it I couldn't say.They claim its to their own design all I can say is the quality appears to be very good with a nice deep note at idle that changes to a distinctive higher pitched wail at high revs.Plenty of clearance in an oval,so should fit fine in a later beetle or type2.

How much room is there between the muffler and rear tire?
What tire/rim sizes are you running?
Still short axle?

I am thinking of getting that exhaust, but have wider rear tires with a heavy negative offset.
that looks pretty close in the picture...

Hi Clatter,There is about 1/2 inch clearance.I'm running a late swingaxle box with short axles,stock beetle wide 5 smoothies and 185/65/15 tires.That width tire on the skinny rim does bulge out the sidewall a bit and the short axles do make things tight.The torsion bars have been lowered +7 inner and -7 outer for about a 1 1/2 inch drop.Hope that helps.

Must say, the Python looks to sit lower than I expected. Maybe its just the install in a very old model, but the Ahnendorp header seems to sit (higher) more tucked in under the rear apron.
