how is it awd?
give a man a watch and he'll allways know what time it is. give him two and he can never be sure again.

Things are rarely just crazy enough to work, but they're frequently just crazy enough to fail hilariously.

deff not a kit, but I am super curious, a lot of people have tried, never seen one done to completion.

Here's one from a thread in Oz, scroll about half way down the page. The pics are of a European rally bug, I think in the 90's. There was a web site with the build.

It would be nice to see this one, sounds cheap.

Ya, thats the car back in the day. The blue davesport rally bug. I bought it from dave and put it all back together. Wish it would have had the type IV turbo motor with it. Fun to drive and difinitely one of a kind.

so that's all VW?How in the heck did you get four wheel drive off of a bus tranny?I saw in the other pics that there was a different noscone, but I thought it was all Subaru.

091 bus trany, custom nose cone and modified pinion shaft. (longer and has a cv flange at the end) runs a shaft in the tunnel to a box by the seat where you can manually choose four wheel drive or two. Then another shaft to a datsun r180 diff up front. Front a arms and spindles are early saab components. You really just run the four wheel drive in the snow or dirt being that the front to rear gearing is off just a tinny bit. Pavement will put extra non needed stress on the drivetrain.
The car is way fun in about a foot of snow up in the mountains on a one lane logging road! :D

So this is the Davesport bug??
Man, this thing is LEGEND.
If I had the cash, it would be parked next to the Schimt Rally Super in my driveway.

The price is fair, someone should snag it. Do you have it up over on www.specialstages.com as well?

Not listed on special stage. I feel that the average person that can afford to actually rally the car would just get a subaru anyway.
You dont even want to hear my personal opinions of rally, special stage, and rally america! I can say that I did have a lot of fun rallying the bug and later the 510!

I also can say that I picked up the shell, no interior, motor, fuel cell, ect in parts for less than I am asking. Great price for what I have into it!

Will trade also for a fj40 cj5 samurai or shifter cart!
