oil level

Post by justin pane »

I've just finished building an oxyboxer 2.1 DJ 2.1 LT, filled it with the recomended 4.5 Lts of oil.
the level seems very high (up to the push rod tubes)
I'm using a type 1 dip stick (didn't have the original dip stick)
can anyone advise on how I determine the correct level.
cheers jp

I went though a similar hassle when I uprighted a t-4. My mistake was I used a pre-oiler in the beginning so I didn't really know how much oil I added, plus the remote hoses to the oil cooler.

It just takes an afternoon and a painters cup, like Image
(any home improvement store paint section clearish graduated buckets). Drain the engine (I didn't remove filter) reuse the oil and fill to the factory “no filter” minumn, mark dipstick “low” and then add one more quart and mark dipstick “full”

There is one more way I have seen where the guy measured the oil level in relationship to the oil pump and made his dipstick match.
Yeah some may call it overkill, but you can't have too much overkill.

Hi Justin (Si "toomanytoys", here)

Normal oil change on a wbx will be 4-4.5L oil.. inc pre fill of the oil filter (normally closer to the 4.5L in my experience).. after running up for an few mins then allowed to settle for a few mins..

thanks guys, all sorted (it has not seized yet)
I was interested in the suggestion of the oil level being set in relation to the pump, how can this be done?

I don't know who credit this to, but the idea seems sound.
Measure the oil level of a type-1 in relationship to the pump, it might be the same as a wasser. Myself I just used the bucket method.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks for that, I'll see how the bucket method compares
