L-Jet filter to pump fuel hose?

What/where does one get the fuel hose used in the L-jet beetles between the filter and pump? I'm guessing it is 14mm id and am not seeing in offered at the usual sources or the local hydraulic shop.

The 7mm side doesn't seem hard to source, the filters are found in stock, but no luck on the big hose.

IIRC I used Gates 5/8" fuel line,(CIS pumps same size) bur there are places that sell 14mm online.

Use modern hose. The "OG" 7mm falls apart fast with modern fuels.

I had a piece of pushloc type oil hose that I used. It fits very tight. I think it was 5/8".
I believe aircooled.net sells the original style hose.

The usual suspects including ACN don't have anything in the catalog that sounds close to me. It is a fuel hose not limited to L-jet, this shouldn't be hard to find a deep link.

I'm about to give up on the metric system and try that daffy “1 of eight” or “1 of four” unless is “1 of sixteen” system. Was even thinking of using Ford'ish nylon lines like;

Seem to make sense that to retro fitting a nylon line is much easier to run over the steel lines. I have seen dorman products over the counter and plenty of fords that didn't leak high pressure fuel.

You can try a hot rod shop too. They would be in AN sizes, just bring the old one with you.

Eric (aka hotrodvw) lives in Oregon and can get you any hose you need. Send him a pm.

Actually I was just at his shop, nothing they carry.

I am surprised how not over the counter a hose like this is, a SAE or dash sized is my current fall back plan. Given the number of l-jet and k-jet cars on the road you think this wouldn't be hard.

It's not going to be "hard', but it's probably going to be ~$50/meter from a Mercedes specialist.

I picked some hose up from Napa that I am going to use for that exact thing. It is just 5/8ths fuel compatible hose that I can see.

I also have a piece of my 5/8ths inch turbo drain hose left over that is the blue push-loc stuff which is the correct size so I just might use that instead.

How long of a piece do you need???

I'm just going to hang my head and buy some nice 5/8 hose. Normally I am no fan of mixing standards but I will figure out some sane method of holding it all together.

I am so used to not being able to find stuff for my carburetor cars, this was kind of a surprise that normal wear stuff for modern fuel injection is also NLA.

Well for those keeping score, its about 6 months for me to source a section of hose. Out of three l-jet pumps I own only one works enough to spurt fluid everywhere.

As a FYI it is 12mm filter to pump inlet and 25$ a meter.

I ended up using 1/2 inch push-loc hose for my tank to filter and filter to pump inlet. The regular fuel hose I tried would kink to easily where it had to turn so I used a scrap of the blue stuff which has a stiffer wall than other hose. It is working good so for with over 500 miles on it.

The braided 12mm German "breather" hose we all use is actually fuel hose and thus fuel safe. There is no pressure on that since it's gravity fed to the pump, so it doesn't need to be special EFI rated hose. Any import shop in the greater Portland area should have access to that stuff.
