Headlights go off when hit brights

56 beetle lights go out when i hit the brights. Im confused, can anyone shed some light on this?

Ok, i apologize for being brief in previous post....wrote while in the midst of electrical fun... Here is what I did to fix.

1. Pulled headlight switch, cleaned all terminals and wires.
2. Pulled main fuse box (4 post) cleaned all terminals and wires.
3.pulled 2 post fuse box, cleaned all terminals and wires.
4. Checked all grounds

Good to go now!
