Leaking injector body-(D-jet).

Note this is not leaking at the short clamped input hose.

Fuel started pouring out the injector body right around where the yellow plastic part below the connector meets the large metal part below it. I do not see any cracks. Took out the injector, wiped the body dry.

If i blow into inlet, the residual fuel runs out where the upper of the metal part meets plastic. This happens evenly right around where plastic meets metal. As if there was an o-ring inside underneath that suddenly collapsed.

Checked engine 2 days earlier and it was then still dry. This happened so suddenly, leaking so badly that there is a large puddle of fuel under the car within seconds after starting the car.

Is this a common problem, should i be concerned about the other 3 injectors doing this as well? Car is a 73 412 which had a relatively easy life.

Not a common problem that I know of. I've never seen them leak like that, even 40 year old cars. Just replace it and buy another as a spare.

Thanks for the info. I might just install another used injector in the meantime. (To get the car mobile). And keep one or 2 as spares. They are not available new in Africa. The longer term objective is to go aftermarket injection and use different type injectors.
