I'm rebuilding my stock 2.1 WBX in my heavy Syncro van. Can I use a type 1 cam in it?
I plan on using the original EFI.
Thanks

Sorry I missed the post
A Web 86 is very close to the stock MV cam timing wise, with a touch more lift.
Tencentlife has also posted extensively on various CB Performance cams that work well.
(Solid lifter and hydraulic)
I cannot recommend//you do not need hydraulic lifters, but will need new pushrods with solids.
(you still need to adjust the valves every ~12K miles. The hydros just hide issues until its too late to fix cheaply)
You can use most mild T1 cams, but if you want some of the hotter profiles you will need to bush the case and run T1 lifters.
(T1 (mushroom) lifters have a much larger running surface, so can accommodate a much wilder cam)
I do strongly suggest implementing Bob Hoovers "hvx" oil system mods, the wasser design sadly fell back to the T1 oiling systems 50 year old issues rather than incorporating the long needed fixes implemented in the T4.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.
