replacement carb for a 71

I have a 1971 vert that my engine builder told me that the carb needs replaced. The engine is stock
with a pentronix dist.
The carb that needs replaced is a 34 pic 3.

Contact Tim Robson (tell him I sent you) ...he specializes in rebuilding original German carbs (including bushing the throttle shafts), IMO they're better than any new counterfeit on the market -and guaranteed.

I always follow your solution however, $229 appears to be expensive for what he does......do you have any
recommendation for a new carburetor?

Nope, they're all crap.
You can graft on an H30/31PICT with a funky little offset adapter. Change the main jet to ~127.5 and they'll work on a DP1600, but there's a discernable loss of top-end power - plus they don't provide a strong enough ported vacuum signal to take full advantage of an SVDA (or DVDA) distributor.

So you would rather buy a part from somebody who most likely has never even driven anything with a solex before, because it is cheaper?

Any person who goes through the effort to make a good part and likely cares about the product should be shunned, because he charges more for a used part?

If you spend money on anything, I suggest quality shoes.

After going thru a learning process on carbs for a 1600 dp, I ordered a carb from Tim....he has been given great reviews on his carbs.
