I need to fix my e-brake button. the boot over it was tucked into my new carpet and it looks like I'll have to remove the drivers seat to have some working room.
but I don't see how the boot slips off and don't want to rip it or anything. is it supposed to slip up the stick or does it come off another way?
just a minor issue, but, the boot is still original eqpt.
thx,

those are great vids but they skip over removing or replacing the boot.

It slips up the "stick"
Getting it pulled up over the parking brake adjustment bits without ripping can be a bit of a challenge, a hot day helps make the rubber easier to work.
A wipe of the shaft with cooking oil or similar can ease sliding it off.
Don't use a typical spray lube with petroleum oils, although from memory the factory rubber was pretty good.

Addendum to Newtons first law:
zero vehicles on jackstands, square gets a fresh 090 and 1911, cabby gets a blower.
EZ3.6 Vanagon after that.(mounted, needs everything finished) then Creamsicle.

fixed it. it was pretty easy as most things are when you do it once. I also saved the boot and have much more brake pedal as well. the brake pads are fairly new.
