Compression test 2110cc

Post by old gh bug »

Default Compression test. 2110cc
Ok I have a fairly new 2110cc motor running/044 heads dual valve springs patter 1:4 rockers fk87 cam

I have just done compression test on all plugs out throttle fully open,
The reason is it seems to be burning a bit of oil, it ticks over lovely and sounds rea lily sweet

Cylinder 1. 120psi
2. 120psi
3. 120psi
4. 140 psi

Is this just a case of the. Rings have not bedded in properly yet,or could. It be something else.

The engine isn't in the car yet just on a test bed

Any advice much appreciated

What was your target compression ratio? The 20 lb difference can be to unfinished ring seating.

Its probably better to do the compression test again after the engine has a few hundred miles on it.

Hopefully the 120psi cylinders will come up close to the 140psi cylinder. With stock or near stock compression ratio you are looking for 130+ psi on all cylinders with a fresh engine.
