Stop light switches_increasing life of

I read somewhere on theSamba that using LED stop lights like the Sylvania ZEVO 1157R causes a smaller amount of current to flow through the stop light switches which will make the switch last longer.
If you have the original elephant feet tail light style assembly then use the ZEVO 1156R bulbs.
I have aftermarket elephant feet style tail lights. They use the ZEVO 1157R bulbs.

They also mentioned not to use LED bulbs for your turn signals because the lower current flow could affect the turn signal flasher or the emergency flasher relay.

Also use the OEM German brake light switches available at aircooled.net or the German FTE switches not the economy brake light switches available at cip1.com.

Great advice! LEDs are more efficient, which is why they use less current. The original 1157 bulbs use 4.2amps of current when the brake lights are illuminated. A typical pair of LEDs only use 0.5amps. It should increase the life of the brake light switch. LEDs also activate faster than incandescent bulbs.

In addition to the OE brake light switches, I developed a brake-pedal activated brake light switch for my car. I now sell these as kits. You can read more about them here: http://www.shoptalkforums.com/viewtopic ... 3#p1263683

That's nice advice @A_C_E. I like it. I would like to try for the LEDs which are more efficient and reliable.
