Looking for some collective wisdom.

Will need to source EFI parts in the future & thought it would be good to get suggestions of easy to source “parts bin” options. I’d rather go with common oem options that can easily to sourced / replaced, rather than specialty bits (that may or may not smell of snake oil). Would be helpful (for me) if these were not US market specific.

I already have a nos bosch fuel pump, which I’ve had on the shelf for years. The game has moved on however, as it’s a 3 bar pump, so it may fall short in turbo uses. So what’s a better option now?

For ignition coils, I know about the VAG 106b pack and there are plenty of COP options, including the popular Yaris part or VAG units. All easy & cheap to source in OEM quality.

However, what about adjustable fuel pressure regulators? The old bosch unit from the D-jet on a type 3/ 914 was a good option but I don’t think those are easy to source any more. Any suggestions?

Other parts? Air temp sensor, etc, etc?

In Europe it’s Vauxhall / Opel & those were sold to the French (PSA) a few years ago but parts should be similar for older cars.

To update my own post

I did look at the very common style of fuel pressure regulator used by VW / Ford / Toyota. Very easy to source & cheap. Which is an insert into the fuel rail but it requires a complex housing (large outer bore plus small inner bore). It’s also not adjustable but available in different versions (3/4/5 bar).




However, I think I’ve settled on Malpassi regulators. Malpassi sell good quality regulators for carbs & do versions for turbo as used on the Lotus Esprit (with Dells) back in the day. They also do a range of adjustable EFI regulators with options for fittings, that cover 1-5bar. They also do a “motorsport” range which go up to 10bar. All adjustable & reference manifold pressure. They are all E85 compatible which is a good feature even just to get comfort that they will handle E10/E15 without trouble. Also fairly easy to source & for a fair price.
