Bus 002 5 Rib Cross Shaft

Hi everyone. I have a 5 rib ‘75 box that will eventually go into my baja. I just pulled the cross shaft out and was surprised to find that it is the early small diameter design with the late throw-out bearing. Do I just weld it or is there a common modification to install a larger cross shaft? VW must have increased the cross shaft diameter in the ‘70s boxes for a reason. For the arm, should I try to find a 100mm arm? Not sure what is common for a bus box. This will be my first T2 build. Any guidance is much appreciated.

I think you have a 71-72 bellhousing on your trans.
