Performance FI intake for type-3?
I'm bored.
The fastback is waiting for the paint guy and it won't be ready for the engine till mid-January.
The plan has been to use the 1776 Megasquirt engine I used in my old 68 squareback (RIP). It's all freshened up and ready to go.
But sitting in my type-1 Ghia is a 2110 long-block that hasn't seen first fire yet. What if I dressed it up as a type-3 engine?
There are a few ways to come up with a 1-1/2" type-3 exhaust that should keep a mild 2110 evacuated so I'm not too worried about that. What I don't have an idea for is an FI intake that will support 100-130 HP. The stock intake the 1776 is using is clearly too small.
I really want to keep everything under the engine cover so only low profile options are on the table. About all I got is to start with the flange from a type-3 FI intake runner, replace the tubing with larger tubing fabbed up from some mandrel bends ... and some sort of plenum and generic TB. I have no idea how to size any of that for the application.
Ideas?

If you look at the T3 Buses with 2.1 L wbx engines you well see that you dont have to fab alot

AFAIK there was never a T3 bus.
But a WBX intake ... OK, I'm interested. What did the 2.1 WBX make as far as HP? Power follows flow.

T3 is what we call them in Germany.
Busses built from 1979-1999/91
Vanagons
Dont mix a T3 (bus) with a type3 ....a lot of people get that wrong....
112hp .
The intake port is much bigger, but will bolt to a type1 head.

I see!
No way that would clear the engine cover in a type-3 car.

This might do ... https://foxinjections.com/collections/d ... -40mm-dcnf
I had DCNF carburetors at one point. They fit ... barely. With very short manifolds.

According to their site
MaxWe use relatively popular mechanical interfaces for the throttle potentiometer. Popular types are; Colvern CP17 series (as supplied by Jenvey), Wabash 971-0002 and (via fitting kits) throttle pots from Novotechnik, Penny & Giles, Marelli and Weber. A number of production car throttle pots (e.g. Rover K series) will also fit directly to the bodies.
The Colvern CP17 throttle potentiometer may be mounted to either end of most installations and spindle rotation is typically 82o.

and what about the "High flow end casting" from cb perf with a home-made central manifold and a single throttle?

Make sure you get this set though instead, since they are machined for injectors.DRED wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 9:21 am and what about the "High flow end casting" from cb perf with a home-made central manifold and a single throttle?

Not much good on a type-3 engine though.Chip Birks wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 10:08 amMake sure you get this set though instead, since they are machined for injectors.DRED wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 9:21 am and what about the "High flow end casting" from cb perf with a home-made central manifold and a single throttle?
