Fuchs 16" x6 and 16" x 7 IRS T1

Post by markvwguy »

Should I post this in a different place?

I have a T1 1969 vert dual spring plates and want to move to real Fuchs. The ET on the Fuchs a around 24mm vs ET45mm on the 17 x 7 wheels. What's the base line parts needed to do Porsche 944 16" x6" front and 16" x 7" rear wheels on a T1 IRS. I probably should already know this after so many years with VWs.

Is a 16 x 6 and 16 x 7 the best combo for T1 IRS standard beetle?

Now, standard front and rear disc conversion with a 5 x 100 pattern. Wilwood front calipers and VW MK4 rear calipers on standard discs about 200mm.

Thanks,
Mark

I think the answer is:
The 16" Fuchs have a small back space and this is an IRS car which would push the wheel out past the fender lip. A short axle swing axle car the 16" world work.

Wow that looks good as is. What rims?

Go to the samba and look at caltters type 3 build. He has some good info in the rim pattern your talking about.

For the front you can use early 944 NA rotors and bearings if you sleeve the bearings. Idk what calipers will work tho. I saw a YouTube where dickman used the 944 Bremen calipers. It almost bolted into the bj spindles he just needed to weld an extra support on for the caliper hole I think.
