Horsepower estimations

Post by Karlos »

A tricky question to answer I know but some ball park estimates for my next engine would be good

2276 94x82

AS41 case
Chevy journal crank
5.4” h beam rods
Mahle pistons & barrels
Engle FK10
Straight cut cam gears
Chromoly push rods
1.4:1 rockers
Thorsten pipier tool steel lifters
044 cnc ported ultra mag heads
42x37.5 stainless valves
Aiming for about 10:1 compression
48 ida’s with berg 40/35 grooved vents
Match ported Scat trac manifolds
A1 1” 5/8 sidewinder header and twin tube muffler
Mallory CDI ignition system
10mm Taylor ht leads
Full weight flywheel
Gene Berg equaliser pulley
All fully lightened, balanced and blue printed

I think 180hp is a realistic figure

Not much help on HP estimate but would expect it to rev rather slowly with the combination of stroker crank, heavy flywheel and very heavy crank pully. You might want to get rid of some reciprocating weight to help your bearings live longer and improve performance.
Good Luck
Good quality is getting harder and harder to find.

What he said. All that extra rotating mass makes for a really lazy engine.

It´ll rev high, but the power will not be super high. The 42 x 37,5 valve combination makes for the exhaust side being over efficient.
Between 170 and 180 hp and most likely not more than about 215-220 Nm perak torque.
