2275 (82 with 5.4 h beams) street/strip engine for weekend fun, fk46 cam, pauter 1.5’s and 48 Ida’s on match ported manifolds. Also have 48 idf’s on match ported manifolds. Originally intended to use welded heads with 44x37.5 valves, also have a set of ported superflow heads but let my ears get filled with hype and picked up the street fighter 46x37.5 heads with all the upgrades.
Anyone running these and actually driving the car? Planning to drive (weekends) for maybe long enough to get the feeling of vw fever back in my head. After I’ll tear it down to swap out to 84 or 86 crank (and correct length rods).
Any input on jetting would be appreciated, thanks all and merry Xmas .

Re: Street heads
Hey Brother I don't have an answer from you but I am curious if you completed your build and what your results have been. I have a similar concern as I bought a used race engine because some of the parts like 48 IDAs and comp eliminator heads, etc. Only to find out that those heads may not provide the appropriate cooling.
I am still trying to source the parts I need. My plan is to go 82x94, with something like a 9.5 to 1 or 10.1 CR. It will only be a weekend warrior and get very very little use with maybe 1,000 or so miles yearly max. I am in Maryland and there a few shows that are about 1.5-2 hrs away that I would still love to drive to cruising at 55ish. This last bit, even though it may be 1-2 shows a year is the issue and I am undecided about my cylinder head options. I would like to be somewhere around 180-200hp.
I am also thinking whether I can just build with the comp eliminator heads for now and just have some good indicators for oil press and temp and even head temp indicators which are not very expensive that I can monitor closely. If it's not feasible I would then make corrections. I won't waste my time though if I hear that it's more than likely that using these heads for anything other than a short sprint isn't practical. Again, I am only interested in using these heads because I have them already and it would reduce the $$ of my build.
Thanks,
Jorge

Re: Street heads
I was able to use street eliminator heads on the street with good oil and head temps. (94 x 86) they have the same fins as a comp eliminator.
I drilled out cooling passages and cleaned up the fins, and used all stock tin, flaps, deflectors etc. I used a late fan housing with a venturi ring, a type 4 oil cooler and an external cooler with fan. You need to add these little deflectors to the heads: https://www.paruzzi.com/uk/volkswagen/e ... e%29/2237/
I'm in Australia so we have 100deg + daytime temps in summer. My main problem was getting enough air in to the engine compartment, so you will need engine lid stand offs.
So i think you could make Comp eliminators work on the street.
If I was to do it again, I wouldn't do the type 4 cooler as it is a lot of work, I'd just do a bigger external cooler with fan.
good luck with whatever you decide
