Plastic/composite mock up case/block

I’m building a vw powered ural motorcycle. I drooled over enough Van Dutch and the old yahoo group for years and I’ve finally decided to get started. I have a clean title 2006 ural mostly complete minus an engine. I’ve toyed with the idea of diesel engines, but I really just want to not deal with heavy slow/limited rpm engines or spend a small fortune. My first car was a 67 cabrio and I’ve had that bug urge ever since.

I have ural, dnepr, bmw, and moto guzzi transmissions to choose from but I need a mock up engine to start figuring out dimensions and how much I need to stretch the frame. I could just pickup/order a universal engine case, but wanted something lightweight for mockups.

I’ve borrowed, bought, and even built (wood&angle stock) blocks and/or cases before, but was hoping someone made a plastic/foam/composite case for this purpose.

Nothing fancy, just 1776 dual port, no fan so going mini alternative serpentine and crank trigger ignition, probably a low profile side draft carb.

Does anyone know of a company that makes such ?

I've never seen a production plastic/foam mockup Type 1 case or engine. Probably too little demand to justify building molds to produce them in quantity. If you have a donor or loaner engine, use that for mockup. Or you could have it 3D scanned and have one CNC milled out of foam core.

Mag cases are light enough, I'm sure someone out there has a dead one... approximate location?

Last time I bought a T4 case shipping was ~$35 bucks. They are a bit heavier than a t1.
(probably more $$ now but still wouldnt be brutal)

South Carolina . You bring up a good point. Perhaps a dead case is what I need. T4 or oxyboxer would be a bit too big as I think both would be wider and taller. Thinking shallow built in sump /dry sump and external cooler on the t1 case would give the shortest vertical dimension and I would not have to spread the lower frame tubes to accommodate a low dangling sump.

If you actually need to narrow the sump, a WBX or t4 may be a better choice as they are aluminum, and a wholebunch easier to weld.

Thanks for the input. I secured a used case this weekend from a vw nut. I’ll be picking it up soon.

Attached is an example of a ural with a dual port engine
