How much would a '66 Beetle that is in original condition with very little rust be worth? I'm looking at one and the owner wants $3000+ for it, and I'd like to know if this is fair, or too much.
Thanks

sorry about the goof-up.as far as the value of your new found bug,i would consider the fact that the vehicle is 36 years old.do you have a credible mechanic around to give it the once over? where are you in the country{beetles are not known for good heating systems)? do you have any mech. skills? these cars can put a small dent in your wallet.most importantly,is she the car that you want? the beetle was, and still is, a very practicle car in most settings but you will develope a personal relationship with a bug of any kind.you aren't looking at a ford escort(no offense).this car comes with a history and yes, i dare say, a personality. in closing i would suggest that you have a qualified mechanic (v.w.) look at her and then stand back and look at her with both your mind and your heart.good luck!
p.s.-look on some internet classifieds to see what comp. bugs are selling for.

I bought the car I was talking about. I think it's going to turn out all right. There is no rust on the pans or channels and most importantly, the car is a one owner car. I'm buying from the original owner, and the car has been garaged in the winter since '75.
It's got some miles on it (100,000+) but it is all original save a paint respray.
