Now, I'm not completely sure this is the same thing; but, it sounds too close not to be what we're talking about. This is also referring to a SA product reviewed in the "ZOOM" magazine. What do you think BergRace?

<B>Hi all.
With the help of a poster on the T4 forum, I managed to locate the URL of an
South African company, making low cost Engine management systems.
Aperantly a Australien magazine by the name "Zoom" did a test on the system.
I have not gotten hold of the article yet, but a friendly Australian said
he would mail me a copy.
The main company makes high tech digital equipment for hospitals etc. The
Automotive branch is called "perfect Power" and can be found from this link:
http://www.perfectpower.com/default.htm

They also make Rpm limiters, Turbo/compressor add on systems as well as
piggy-back systems.
Their current top of the line controller is called: Mic 3 (Micro Injection
Controler 3)

The MIC3-KIT contains the following:
Computer Box
Wiring harness
Throttle position sensor
Air Temperature sensor
Engine Temperature sensor

You also need a Comucation cable, and Ignition Amplifire.

Prices:
MIC3-KIT: 357,- US$
Ignition Amplifier: 42,- US$
Comunication Cable: 14,- US$

A grand total of: 413,- US$ !!!!!!!
This is LESS than half of the cost of the SDS, Autronic etc. systems! I know
what I want for Christmass. 8-P

They also have a cheaper system called ECU, which contains air temperature
sensor and harness at:
EC-KIT 208,- US$
Comunication Cable 14,- US$

I am in no way affilliated with PerfectPower

I am checking out the site as we speak. I also think it is safe to say PJ...you are BergRace, yes? I suppose it's ok to quote your RAMVA post here...yes?

hehe, I actually saw your RAMVA post, immed recognized the ZOOM stuff, and ran back here to post it, then it dawned on me...You started this Type 4um thread, so I'm telling you what you already know, but I guess this way everybody knows now.

Don't mind me...I should be getting my medication this afternoon.

Yes, P.J. would be me, as in Bergrace.

I have exhanged e-mails with Cheryl at PerfectPower.com
She enclosed a price-list, but it came in Word.Doc format, so I have not got anything that wil open it. I got some prices wich I have posted on RAMVA.
Quoting me is not a problem on my behalve.

Would anyone know from looking at this setup if it would fit with an upright conversion? Like the DTM shroud?

This is a Engine Management system, and has nothing to do with the physical setup.
You will need to buy/fabrikate the intake system, either as separate throtle plates, or as a sentral throtle body system.

Hi

I seem to have got people interested in EFI with my post. The African EFI system is sure cheap here $399 au as opposed to $1800 au for an Autronic system, but if you have to pay too much for it, it may not be a cheap option, if you have to spend hours on a dyno the savings will soon be eaten up not to mention wear & tear on the motor. I'm using an Autronic system on my car and I couldn't be happier, its like driving a New Beetle, no induction noise, fantastic hot or cold starting, unbelievable flexibility and great economy 10 litres per 100 km around town.

TIP: My car is water cooled so I used a local GM Holden Camira water temp sensor, my cars coolant typically runs around 80 - 90 Celsius. I suggested to a friend of mine that is using Autronic on his air-cooled bug http://www.clubvw.org.au/leigh_harris.htm that he use the same sender for his oil temp reading for the Autronic and its working really well. He previously used the sender from an EFI air-cooled Kombi, which was useless.

I have looked into the Autronic system, and found it to be what I wanted before I found PerfectPower. If you want to compare Autronic with the PerfectPower, you need to look at the MIC3-KIT which will cost you 413,-US$ including comunication cable and Ignition amplifier. It has most of the features typicly found on systems like Wolf and Autronic.

Hi
I think the important thing is to get a system that either you or your dyno operator can tune quickly. I burnt all the paint of my rear apron last dyno run and next time it goes on I dont want a repeat of that. To prevent that point the dyno cooling fan at your rear apron, I didnt because I wanted to keep my radiator cool.
Recently Autronic announced a optional AutoTune chip and software which enables hands free tuning, no input is required from the user other than running the engine through its various RPM and load sites.
Hey Berg race does PerfectPower have website? The copy of that Zoom article is on its way.
There is a really good website that visit http://www.autospeed.com/ its in Australia but they have some very good technical articles, its worth a look. You need to subscribe to view some of the contents. Its put together by the original editor of Zoom Julian Edgar.

You can find PerfectPower on: www.perfectpower.com
I have found the Autospeed site, I get their newsletter, a pity that some of the articles are for members only.

Ps.Please note that all prices on PerfectPower are in US$
