Door handle

How do I get the inner door handles off? It is a '63 bus and the door handles are smooth. No bolt holding it on and no set-screw that I can see.

I think there is a pin in the handle
push the "ring" and spring away from the handle
a small drift(finishing nail might work but bend easy) and hammer tap it almost out
cut the pointy end off the nail so it is flat
Too big a nail will split the handle
when off and if you haven't lost the pin pull it out and replace on the top so you can put it back together
