I know, lots of opinions but who are you guys using/recommending for head porting? I am looking for a best all around street head for my 2165 with stock gearing. I have a set of V-7 Perf. Tech heads that work great for my all out motor but am looking for a better all around package (plus their reputation has gone down somewhat). If you have a phone number for the person you're recommending that would be great thanks.

I've heard great things about A.J.'s heads, and with the resume like his (Clyde Berg, Jeff Denam(sp?), and Fred Simpson), you know he knows what he's doing.

PerfTech? I'll bite my tongue when it comes to those SOB's.

You should be able to get any number of guys to do a set of street heads for you. The guys who do record setting race heads tend to have huge backlogs of work and take a long time. Some of the more hungry guys should be able to turn around a set in 5-6 weeks. Be sure to allow plenty of time, though. Heads always seem to be the gating item when doing an engine build.

Anybody else had probs with perf. tech? They told me 550.00 to take my street eliminators to what they called "stage 1" p/p and reshape combustion chambers. Any input at all would be nice-i don't want to mess up a set of heads for my 2275. Thanks

Let me first say, PerfTech does good work. Hard part is, having them actually do it.

When you finally do get them on the phone and ask them why the heads are taking so long, they play the blame game, and throw it wherever they can just to keep you sane. "Another week, and they'll ship" is something I heard so many Fu&^ing times over a series of months, that if it were up to me, they would be shut down. The only way you'll get your work done, is if you stop by thier shop everyday, and 'remind' them to work on it. Which will mean that they will push back other peoples work to do it.

And did I mention that when I drove to California to get my heads (because I could not get ahold of them), I watched them pickup and hangup the phone when people called. But that was only if the phone kept ringing long enough that it must have annoyed them.

I was a repeat customer of thiers (previously had some Level 6 heads) but with my last set of heads, and got treated like $hit. They don't deserve MY money, I'll tell you that.

But that was just my experience with them. I know of others that have had problems with them too, but i'll let them tell the story if they want.

PT what can I say, still don't have my race heads (now officially two years waiting) HOWEVER I did recieve my street heads and what a job Fred has done on these! Put them on the race motor and first time out 12.20 then 11.84 with 1750 lb car, best 60' times yet 1.52 then snapped both Sway-a-way axles at the start line.Eric is right though the treatment yet go through to get these results is nothing but painfull!!

Headflow Masters does nice work, and their prices are reasonable, too. I have a set of their large oval 040 heads on my 2110.
