square port heads

Hi All,

Just wanted to know if anyone has experimented with the square port heads, fitting big valves, porting, etc.
Are these heads any good ?

Any feedback is appreciated

Any good for what? There is probably no exhaust available other than the stock aplication unless its custom fabricated.

I have asked a major German type 4 expert what the limitation on the squareport heads are. He said they are ok heads that flows pretty nice but he would'nt go beyond 44/38mm valves. He mentioned that the heads are not as thick in the valve area as the older oval port heads. I'm pretty sure BAS got stub tubes that goes onto the square exhaustport. From there on you can build your own exhaust system or buy one from BAS that fits.

Thanks guys for your replies.

I'm suprised that no one uses these heads considering as quoted by Jacob "flow better through the exhaust after port work than the others"

In regards to the exhaust no one in OZ seriously markets type IV products, so whether I go Oval or Square I will have to get something fabricated.
Rolf mentioned that "the heads are not as thick in the valve area" would the square heads have a problem dissipating heat from that area ?
Could this lead to the heads cracking ?
