bug running choppy

Post by 69volkser »

okay.....here's the deal....my bug has been running really choppy lately last summer it ran like a top then i went to college and came home and now it runs like crap. it has a lack of power and when i accelerate it has a really choppy sound like a lawn mower. i checked the timing and that was set right. i also adjusted the carb and that was good too. what else could it be? vlaves, wires, and plugs maybe?.............any suggestions would really help.

What kind of setup do you have?
There are little valves that unscrew from the carb(s) that can get clogged..
Are you running headers? What size motor? Any additional info will help.

How about doing a compression test then you will know how that end of the motor is
I like vacuum gauges for the information they show
the plug on the back of the carb didn't fall out did it?
hope it is something simple
good luck

I know this might sound dumb, but do you have fresh gas in it? Todays gas goes down the toilet rather quickly.
