Hi all, a question for those who have bought a rebuilt tranny..How did yours come delivered?
I recently recieved a rebuilt tranny, I ordered a pro-comp close ratio, SB main shaft, but it came delivered with no paperwork or even a simple tag ID'ing what it is, or in it. All for a little over a $1000.
Is this the normal way of getting these things? Am I expecting too much? Should I just trust that this is what I ordered?
Just wondering how yours arrived. If this is the norm, I rest my case.
Thanks!

Definitely be sure you post the name of who you bought it from. What else have they told you about the tranny? Hopefully it's not some kind of STF tranny. Unless you tear it down, you can't tell what's in it. You may be able to figure out 3rd and 4th ratios by counting input shaft turns per each axle revolution. Sometimes they are welded stock gears and not short ratios. I'm going to be running a SuperBeetle mainshaft based tranny which is about as good as you can go without springing for the extra $400 for a close ratio setup for 1st/2nd.

Rebuilt tranny...specs?
Hi guys,
I have gotten word that this tranny was built by Rancho..
Just really wondering if rebuilt bug trannys are usually shipped unmarked or untaged. I know that there is a trust factor involved, and I don't intend to point fingers by my asking.
I just feel uncomfortable to spend a little over a thousand $'s on a custom built job only to get it simply packed in a cardboard box with no paperwork or tag to speak of.
Maybe I'm paranoid..as this is the first time purchasing a bug tranny.
So how would I ID a superbeetle main shaft just by external appearance?
Thanks peeps..

As far as I've heard, you can't go wrong with Rancho. If you would have said GEX, watch out!!! especially for $1k spent. Have they given you any idea of what kind of ratios are in the trans? SB= 3.78/2.06/1.31?/.93 and a 3.88 r/p
I don't know if there's any way to tell from the outside if you have a super beetle mainshaft, maybe if the nosecone is off??? I don't build my own tranny's (just break them) so I'm sorry I can't be of more service.
