Ok...so I am just curious to what you all think is the better choice of engine size for a little street fun, yet a daily driver. I have talked to a few, and they all mention that they would go with the 1776 or in the 1800's for enough power to beat most hondas, and reliability to keep me rolling. I don't want a dragger, instead a streat rod to win over most at the red lights. Your imput would be greatly appreciated. Right now I have the single carb 1600 factory in my bug. Eric

From experience, the 1776 should do the job fine. I never lost from stoplight to stoplight, but in the quarter don't go racing any hot rodded novas.

I have a 1915 with a VZ-25 cam, 044 heads fully ported and polished (40x35.5) with HD rocker shafts, 40mm dellorto carbs and everything possible lightened and balanced. Compression is 9.0:1 and have plenty of HP to move my little ghia down the road plenty quick. I drive it about 100 miles everyday and only problem ive had was the pulley belt snapped. It really suprises alot of honda's!
and is very reliable. Gas mileage is about 20 with good driving, but have gotten about 10 with a lead foot. All in all any engine can have reliability, it all depends on the amount of work you put in such as balancing and building everything right. A friend of mine has a 2332 that he drives daily and has had it for close to 3 years now with only the clutch going bad. Build it right and it will last years.
