I am looking at getting new tires for my '67 Bug, and was wondering if putting wider tires (185's or even 195's) affects the handling or suspension of the car in a bad way. I can get the original 165's, but I think wider is better (sorry Pontiac). Any thoughts?

i'm running 195/60/15's in the front of my '69 and love them. they corner alot better than stock but might rub if the car is lowered in the front.

If your suspension is stock it won't really affect anything, except give you more grip. 185/65's are a nice look for bugs, and pretty close to the original size for speedo. calibration purposes. 195's are also good, but might start to have some rubbing issues if you go any wider.
