Good morn all! I really was looking at turboing my 1776, when I split the case to drop new cam, go head and slap a 76 mm or so crank in ther. Ok, now I am really hung up on these rotary conversions!! I dunno which to do. Then I see with the rotary, what 13b, i think, I can have FI and turbo!!!???sweet. I see guys on the NG saying that they are unreliable motors, expensive parts....blah, blah, but my thinking is..... If I build a turbo type 1 to try and match the HP on the mazda...that will cost way more and be maybe a 30-50,000 mile engine with proper maint. Doesnt this make since...I mean I love AIrcooled, but this would be really fun round here with all these stang drivin meatheads!!!
I see lots of places online I can get the short block 13b not the t-turbo, for bout the same as a stock 1600cc short block. I built this 1776, and was very anal bout it, the only used parts i used were cased, .20 over, and the dual dell 40's, everything else is quality, new forged and balanced. Spared no expense, and it cost bout....5000, i know everyone is like....what
?!!!!!!! I said I did it right and it is still running strong, kinda. I have it sitting, just moved to tx from az and have to get it up to par with tx inspection.....horn, wipers, seatbelts, front turn sig..etc]
wankel....wankel wankel, thats funny soundin!
