Does anyone have any figures as to what kind of hp a T2/T4 auto box will handle?
I'm planning on using one in my westy van with a Rover V8 and then (when funds allow) a Porsche 928 V8. The Rover V8 I'm using only puts out about 150bhp but the 928 pushes out 300bhp. I rekon that it should cope with the Rover motor but not too sure about the 928 engine.
Any ideas and if not, can I make it stronger by using Audi bits from different Autos...
Thanks

Hi Mike,I believe the main box assy is the same as an Audi auto.
From our experience with Bobtail(the Scirocco) we used a 200turbo auto trans and used more clutch plates to increase the bite pressure,as well as increasing the fluid pressure to improve the shift characteristics. The Audi engine was largely stock I would say at least 180bhp,and the box coped easily.

Oettinger used a modified auto on its 180 HP six cylinder waterboxers. The standard T3 manual could only handle their 140 hp version. Unsure how modified. (It may have been as per above post i.e Audi derived. Send 'em an email and ask 'em.
