Never seen one in a boat. Most boats are watercooled since they have an unlimited supply of water. They don't have a radiator it just sucks in water from the lake and pumps it out. I don't think you'll ever see an aircooled motor in a boat because it would run hot all the time. The aircooled needs (fast) air ducted into the motor all the time.
I've only seen the aircooled motor in Airplanes and as a power supply for a back up generator but I know there is more.

It could be done BUT you would have to do some mods. Have some air inlets in your motor cover. a really good bilge pump. OR run an "open" motor in teh back. Get plenty of fresh air back there.
If i had to build a boat motor i would use VW!

I know over the years that Hot VW's or Trends have showed Bug powered boats. Usually just one PIC at a show or something. Same goes for hovercrafts, swampboats and Gyro-copters. I also rember a PIC of a Heath Kit inboard VW motor adapter.

How about the Waterbug? Hot VW's showed one once - it was a production deal, not a one off - used a VW industrial engine I believe. No reason air cooled wouldn't work in a boat - just need vents like on a deck lid, plus the air on a lake is always cooler than on black asphault!
