Hi gang! Still getting my feet wet in the Type 3 Community and have a question. Is there a manufactuer that offers Type 3 sheet Metal replacement parts? I need the floor section from the back seat area to the tailgate. I suspect I need a donor car but just wanted to see if any company out there offers either metal of fiberglass. Any one replaced this section with sheet metal that you cut to fit this area? How difficult was this to do?
Thanks,
Wild Bill in search of Type 3 Squreback parts

Type 3 1968 Squareback: Parts Source??
The only metal replacements I've ever seen for T3s are NOS stuff. Nothing aftermarket that's metal. You're limited to fiberglass in the way of fenders, aprons, floors, etc. UNLESS you can find a donor vehicle or source the parts from the net or a swap meet.
I've had to use three cars to complete one. Was it sad to cut up two T3s? Yes, but there was no way to fix each one without cutting up others to fix them. Some are destined for parts (be it too rusty, or crashed).
Good luck,
G
