START ME PLEASE

I OWN AS OF LAST NIGHT 2 1970 VW BEETLES ONE RUNS FOR SURE THE OTHER RAN SUPPOSIBLY WHEN IT WAS PARKED LAST FALL. NEITHER ONE OF THEM WILL START WITH THE IGNITION. WHAT CAUSES THAT. SOUNDS LIKE A SOLENOID, BUT IT IS WEIRD THAT THE BOTH OF THEM WOULD DO THE SAME THING. ALL CONNECTIONS ON BATT. ARE TIGHT AND BATTERIES ARE FULLY CHARGED. WHY WOULD THIS HAPPEN TO TWO COMPLETLY DIFFERENT BUGS FROM TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE.

Just for kicks, lift real hard up on the key... strait up while cranking.

Don't brake the key though.

do you mean they wont turn over, or they wont start????????

If the engines wont turn over, make sure of the connections at the starter.

check battery connections to ground too.

if it will turn over, check gas, spark ( points , plugs , etc.

I strongly recommend getting the Bentley service manual. Starter is easy.

Hit the starter solenoid post with a screw driver and if it cranks then your ignition is screwed somewhere.

A lot of times you can clean up the starter connections and it works fine.

TURNS OUT I CHECKED EVERYTHING BUT THE OBVIOUS, AFTER GOING THROUGH THE WIRING AND DIAGRAMS I SLID MY NOGIN UNDER THE CAR AND I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE LOOKED THERE TO BEGIN. THE SMALL STARTER WIRE HAD COME OFF ON THE BOTH OF THE CARS. THUS SAVING ME $550 ON THE PURCHASE OF BOTH CARS.

I know you're excited about your new toys, but when YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS, it's considered yelling. Slow down a little. Image
