timing for a 1776

Post by 72beetle »

Hello all, My timming seems to be set around 32 DEG ATDC @ 2,500 RPM. at idle it is around 13 DEG ATDC. Is that to high. Where do you think that it should be. The book says 5 DEG ATDC at idle. I had the car's timming done by a professional at a VW shop. It just seems high that's all.

Unless you have a double vacuum diaphram dizzy (they are set 5deg ATDC) you should be setting BTDC, 009's are set BTDC.
