Cylinder Temp or Oil Temp Guage?
Which is more critical, a cylinder head temp guage or an oil temp guage? Also, has anyone used the Berg oil temp dipstick? ANy comments? Thanks.

Yes.
But seriously, if I was limiting myself to one or the other, I'd probably go with head temp.
I've not used the dipstick personally, no.

Simple solution: get both! But if I had to chose only 1, I would probably pick the head temp gauge. You can never have too many guages however!

cip has a cyl head temp that hooks up like the berg oil temp, when your cyl head temp hits 425 it turns on the oil light.

Cylinder Temp or Oil Temp Guage?
I had a valve break in a motor that had been running too hot, rust from the gas tank got into the carb and caused the motor to run too lean, therefore too hot. I didn't know it was running too hot, untill I was towed home and took the motor apart. I installed a GB temp senson in the rebuilt motor, it seems to work as advertised. At least I know when to slow down on a hot summer day. I've been using it for 5 yrs. - 75,000 miles. At $20.00 it's real cheap insurance!

I wouldn't drive without GB oil temp dipstick installed. Outstanding, inexpensive insurance.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like I'll be getting the Berg dipstick temp unit and possibly a cylinder head one too.

We always ran Both on all our off road cars and used the cylinder head gage for tuning. Good oil temp gage like the VDO for street cars. Off road also use the buzzer see-> ttp://1800vw.bizhosting.com/buzzer_warning_7_95.html
